Family of 40 FCA Prayer Ministry

Over these past 5 years, Wanda and I have discovered all the more the incredible value – and power – found in the movement of prayer…over ministry, work, and life as a whole! 

So what is the “Family of 40?”  As we prepare to embark on this  journey of serving the Lord full-time with The Fellowship of Christian Athletes, our desire is to be “led out” in ministry by at least 40 willing and able men and women who will commit to prayer over us and all the individuals, events, activities, and finances that will move the ministry forward and see God expand His Kingdom here on earth.

Throughout the Bible, we see the number 40 emerge in so many special instances…

God sent rain for 40 days and nights in Genesis 7:4. Moses meets with the Lord for 40 days and nights in Exodus 24:18…Goliath taunts Israel for 40 days every morning and evening (1 Sam. 17:16).  These are just a few of the instances in the OT.  As we enter the NT we see Jesus led by the Spirit into the wilderness where He fasts for 40 days and nights (Matt. 4:1-11).  And finally, we find in Acts 1:3 that Jesus, following His resurrection, spent 40 days speaking to His disciples about the kingdom of God.  More instances could be cited, but these help us to see that this number is special.  For some reason, God utilized this number in relation to special – even incredible – moments in the Bible!  In that spirit, we want to incorporate this number into our ministry of prayer for FCA.

During these past 5 years of also doing ministry in a local church setting with youth and young adults – both Ted and Wanda have discovered once again the value of prioritizing prayer and experiencing the extra-special power that comes through corporate prayer.  We continue to grow learn to pray in all circumstances.  Now our desire is to completely cover the people and work of FCA in prayer through this special team of praying people.

We are looking for 40 men and women who will agree to…

  • Be earnest in prayer (Acts 12:5)
  • Be fervent in prayer (James 5:17-18, 1 Kings 19:41-44)
  • Join in special/needed seasons to fast in prayer (Matthew 6:16-18)
  • Pray weekly for FCA/Ted & Wanda
